State of the UFC Heavyweights

by Michael David SmithNovember is a month without any title fights, which makes it a good time to take a long view of the future title picture in each weight class. Today we look at the weight division.

The short-term future of the UFC heavyweight division is clear, with champion Cain Velasquez slated to defend his title against Junior dos Santos some time in the spring of 2011. But beyond that, the division is hard to figure out.

None of the UFC's other big-name heavyweights -- not Brock Lesnar or Shane Carwin or Frank Mir or Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira or Roy Nelson -- currently has a fight scheduled. So as we examine the state of the UFC's heavyweight division, we're looking at a division that's largely up in the air, without a lot of big fights on the schedule.
